Weaving

There is a strong group of weavers within the Guild and we, like the Spinners, meet on alternate weeks. There are regular meetings where you are welcome to bring looms of all sorts and weave.

We also hold discussion sessions where we show what we have done, find out more about weaving suppliers or ask for help with problems we are having.

The Guild holds a wide range of weaving equipment which is available for hire. Often for a beginner this is the most cost-effective way of trying out the craft before laying out any expenses.
In addition the Library collection carries some very useful reference resources in the way of books and pamphlets.

Other weaving materials are either obtainable through the membership or details of suppliers are listed on the Guild Notice Boards which are displayed at each meeting.

Weaving events held in the past include a one day workshop on 'Weaving Twill Samplers', a presentation on 'Designing Fabrics on the Loom' and another weaving workshop on weaving with colour.
We have had a presentation on Irish Weaving down the ages, run a practical weaving day sharing skills and ideas around a wide range of weaving techniques and enjoyed a stimulating two-day workshop on designing for weaving.
The Guild has run a six week 'Introduction to Weaving' course and a six week 'Introduction to Tapestry Weaving' course.
