Main Guild Meeting

Date: 21 Sep 2013

We have two workshops planned for our September Meeting.

At 12.00 we have Matty's Workshop for 8 Members

Tapestry Weaving with handspun - using up odds and ends

This short session will explore how to use handspun yarn for tapestry weaving. Using a ready-warped hand loom we will make up weft yarns out of whatever motley collection of handspun yarns you have to hand - and also cover what to do with the resulting weave.

And at 3pm Carol's workshop for 12 Members

Navaho Spinning

Have you ever had one bobbin of something you spun and aren't sure what to do with it? Have you ever wanted to create a mulitcoloured yarn where the colour change is controlled (ie maintain colour integrity?). Navaho plying is a fabulous technique that will help both these problems. Please bring a bobbin of singles - it needs to be spun thin enough so that you can ply three strands of it through your wheel's orifice (hole where yarn goes through onto the bobbin) with ease. If you want to see the full effect of Navaho, spin the bobbin with a series of different colours.
