Sock it to Me: Sock Knitting with Debbie Haskell

For beginners Debbie will introduce a basic technique and pattern, and show how this can be translated to any thickness of yarn you have spun or bought with a basic 'formula'. (Don't panic, she is a complete ‘mathsphobic' and this is no more than simple arithmetic)
Step by step instructions will be provided for you to take home and Debbie will have samples ready for you to have a go at turning the heel - the part which seems to be most daunting to newbies.
For those already proficient at knitting socks there will be a wealth of books and patterns to inspire you and introduce you to different methods of construction e.g. toe-up, short row heels etc. If you dyed yarns at previous meetings, ready to knit socks, then bring them (and your needles) and Debbie will help you get started. If they're already under construction then just come and share their loveliness with us.
Trish will be showing us different ways of casting on and casting off. Crochet Socks. Socks, socks and more socks Bring in your socks, if you've made them, bought them or been given them. The more the merrier. Make sure they are labelled. Test the "experts" by asking how your socks have been made and or dyed. Who has the oldest pair of socks? Do you have a sock loom you could bring in.? If you have any other ideas for the day please let Debbie know.
