EVENTS Our Guild has a number of opportunities for members to get together and share ideas and expertise. Main Meetings Our varied programme of speakers and activities, which provides inspiration and information on many levels, is detailed below. The Guild meets on the 3rd Saturday of the month, usually at Pearson Hall, Pearson Road, Sonning. . Most meetings start informally at 2pm, with a chance to view the notice-board, library and sales table followed by the main business starting at 2:30pm. Meetings end around 4.30 - 5pm. We have several full-day meetings each year. These start at 10.00 am. Visitors are very welcome to all these meetings. Below are details of our main meetings. 2008 20 September Tina Stapley will share with us her knowledge and expertise around use of plants in relation to our core crafts of spinning, weaving and dyeing 18 October** A Members’ Day - In the morning we shall be reviewing all the equipment that we have available for members to loan. In the afternoon we will be preparing for our guild exhibition in 2009 15 November Alison Ellen will be talking about New Directions with Hand Knitting. 20 December** A Members’ Day - A Christmas theme combined with a Pot Luck Lunch 2009 17 January Eve Alexander on Spinning for Weaving 21 February Pippa Henry presents Medieval Textiles 21 March** A Members’ Day - watch this space for the theme 18 April* Val and David Bryant - David will hold a spinning wheel surgery in the morning, and Val will talk about "Spinning wheels - recording our heritage" in the afternoon. 16 May AGM and competition results 20 June** A Members’ Day - theme to be decided 18 July* Dyeing Day *Members Workshops 10 am until 4 pm ** Full Day Meeting 10 am until 5 pm. Additional meetings A small informal group meets at Wokingham Methodist Church, Rose Street, Wokingham RG40 1XS from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm on the first Monday of every month for a general practical session of various cfratfs during which projects are explored and techniques shared Spinning Group Meetings: A spinning group meets every Wednesday fortnight from 10:00 am to 13:00 pm in Pearson Hall for an informal session. Full dates are on the Spinning page. Weaving Group Meetings: A weaving group also meets in Pearson Hall, but on a more flexible basis.
